When something devastating happens it is so easy to let it defeat us, to wallow in our own self pity. By all means react, be emotive, ball, cry, yell, give devil eyes... whatever is appropriate... I know I sure do. In saying that it is so important to make self pity short lived. Instead, go back to what you know you are good at, where your gifts lie, get swept away by your hopes and dreams because no one has a right to tell you they aren't possible. I hope you like these bright, happy pics.
Peace out xx
A HANDSOME PROJECT
Whipped cream flying, the best swimwear in town, greesy sloppy pizza tantalising our taste buds and big nurf guns locking and loading, oh it was a playful affair!
We Are Handsome's The Romantic Collection was used to style the photo's for A Handsome Project.
We wanted to capture a girl, running amok in a big french house, in the middle of the night, when all through the house not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse. Using vintage furs, sequins and colourful leather jackets that began as creative experiments, we wanted to portray an edgy, more hardcore juxtaposition against the beautiful timeless backdrop. The shots turned our perfect, a little crude, a little out-there, something that will be sure to get a reaction out of people.
The Brilliant photography was done by Daniel Le Breton if you have a moment be sure to check our the rest of his talented works. As for the Model, Lola Van Vorst is damn fine. She has the camera eating out of the palm of her hand! Have a sneaky cheeky look at her blog lovelola, as well as her portfolio on The Agency Models Website. Be sure to check our the rest of the works of A Handsome Project on their Blog but for the moment have a peruse of our photoshoot.
Much love xxx D
Pasteltastic
Is it just me or does the recent race to the hairdresser's to go pastel crazy resemble something not to dissimilar to a troll dolls hair do? Who would have thought that this iconic 90's childhood novelty toy that I spent hours playing with was strutting a hairstyle I would just die for many years later! Just waiting for my courage.... but soon I would love to add a colour out of the rainbow to my already balayaged hair!

Where did that 3 hours go???

I look at the clock and its 1pm...... I look back up only seconds later to find its indeed now 4pm.... how did that time pass in what I thought was a blink of an eye... stalking solestruck's new shoe's, googling random inspirations, facebook lurking, these were the guilty culprits! thanks a lot!
I thought I'd share a few things I discovered!

Alice in Wonderland Meets Charlie in the Chocolate Factory!

What a crazy evening! Filled with sensational costumes, ridiculous suprisises and memories I will never forget!!!!
When I set out to plan my 21st I had no idea how it would end up! With the rain pelting down all day, I was so concerned that the last minute changes would make it all go south! But it wouldn't have mattered if it rained, hailed or shined, everyone put in so much effort and looked absolutely killer, they set the mood and we never looked back!
After deciding the theme and sending out invites I realised I had no idea what I wanted to dress up as!!! After so much research I finally put my hands on the Dark Mad Hatter Costume. I used this as an inspiration and decided to put my own spin on it. Being naturally obsessed with wearing black, I was stoked that my entire costume could be black and white! I wore the Black Milk Elf Leggings, JC Shadow Spikes, a vintage white linen dinner shirt, an italian tuxedo jacket, a giant mad hatter hat with a big black and white striped bow, the same as the one around my neck! I had sewn them a week prior... it was such an experimental endeavour! but they turned out just fine!
For my hair I went right out of my comfort zone and wore a wig, dark brown bob, based on the advice of the ever so stunning and talented Sarah Laidlaw my Hair and Make up artist! I actually am in love with that hair style.... If I hadn't spend zillions of dollars on hair extensions and shed so many tears in the last 3 years over my last spontaneous hair cut where I cut my hair from super long to a pixie cut... I would be ever so tempted to make the move! If you have some time have a look at Sarah's work http://www.dlm.com.au/?page=hair_and_make_up&profile=69_SarahLaidlaw
My Cake was absolutely everything I envisaged, 8 layers, themed and unique! Patty Grainger did a sensational job!
I was also very fortunate to have the ever so brilliant Daniel Le Breton of DLB Photography snap the evening, and I just don't know how he did it but he managed to capture every moment perfectly. If you have time check out http://photographsbydaniel.tumblr.com/ , http://www.facebook.com/pages/DLB-Photography/183609198331476
The dance floor went off, with almost every soul at the party on it after speeches! This was all the work of DJ OH-BOY, who recently took the stage at Future Music Festival for Starfuckers!
I was just so blessed to have all my amazing friends and family there to celebrate with me... oh and it didn't hurt either that I got a brand new Black Jeep Compass!!!
But on a serious note, I am truly blessed to have been able to have the 21st of my dreams. Thank god it is over, it was so stressful!!!

The Big 2-1

Super delayed but at least I finally got to post about my birthday! It was truly an amazing Birthday Week.... yes thats right I am a diva and my birthday celebrations actually spanned out over the course of a week! What of it???
On my actual birthday, February 28th, I had a beautiful family breaky at one of our local restaurants, Blu Water Grill!
Along with my family, my two best girlfriends celebrated with me over a big breaky and an even bigger serving of CAKE!
My mum an amazing Food Stylist went all out with the cake presentation with an overflowing amount of rose petals! just stunning!
I was absolutely spoilt with love and pressies! From the beautiful Ellie, I got the classic Chloe Black Leather Banned ring and from the amazing Zara, the JC Shadow Stud's which I ended up wearing for my 21st Party. They are surprisingly a hell of a lot easier to walk in than they look. Goes to show that you should never judge a book by its cover!
Prepping for the nights shenanigans, I went and got my makeup done at Mecca. They did an outstanding job, and I was in love with the smokey eyes they did!
We arrived at the Foxtrot around 8pm, its a cosy eclectic bar located in Crowsnest! It had grand antique arm chairs, old school books and a sensational warped Alice in Wonderland muriel on the upstairs terrace. So fitting, seeing as my theme for my 21st is Alice in Wonderland Meets Charlie in the Chocolate Factory.
This great little haunt, serves their delicious cocktails in jam jars, so Kooky...and drool worthy pizza's!!!
It was just so great to have my closest friends spend the evening chatting, drinking and celebrating with me! Oh but it wasn't over....
Stay tuned
xx
